Jazz in the City

Under the motto “Jazz in the City – for free and outside”, there will be a wide range of musical offerings in the city center on Sunday, May 3.

The local stores open their doors from 13:00 – 18:00 and offer the opportunity to combine shopping, music and gastronomic offers.

While live music from Dixie to Rock’n’Roll creates a special atmosphere in the city center, Gronau’s retailers present themselves with attractive promotions and a diverse range of products. Families, music fans and guests from the region can look forward to a varied Sunday in Gronau’s city center.

Live music with:

PimToscani’s Jazz All Stars (NL) take us on a journey back to the 1930s and 1940s and revive the glory days of bandleaders and soloists such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and ‘The King Of Swing’ Benny Goodman. (c) Pim Toscanis Jazz All Stars

Nina’s Rusty Horns (Cologne)

Nina’s Rusty Horns play New Orleans jazz by old blues ladies such as Bessie Smith and Georgia White. Expressive and idiosyncratic, band leader Nina interprets the old treasures with her bluesy timbre, while the Rusty Horns’ tight rhythm section drives the swinging clockwork and the horns spin their rusty carpet of collective solos. The six Dixieland jazz musicians of the Schmackes Brass Band (Krefeld) inspire audiences beyond Germany’s borders. You can literally see the fun they have with their music during their live performances, and the spark quickly spreads to the audience. Handmade jazz with “Schmackes” that leaves no listener standing still. (c) Schmackes Brassband

Lynn & The RattleShakes (NL)

present a rousing show of blues, rock ‘n’ roll and swing. Front woman Lynn is bursting with energy and her broad spectrum of modern rock ‘n’ roll with a pinch of boogie blues ensures the best atmosphere wherever she storms the stage with her band. (c) Lynn and The Rattle Shakes

JazzSir! (NL) is a young street band that spreads energy, joie de vivre and a special atmosphere in New Orleans style. The nine-piece band plays swinging jazz inspired by the pulsating streets of New Orleans: lively, cheerful and unmistakable. (c) JazzSir!

New Boz Jazz Collective (NL)

Immerse yourself in the rousing world of the early 20th century with the New Boz Jazz Collective. With a line-up reminiscent of the heyday of Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Sidney Bechet, the band presents a feast of horns, rhythms and improvisations that will fill every street and every square with atmosphere and nostalgia. The Red Jackets Jazzband (NL) plays authentic street jazz in all its facets: from the well-known traditionals of the early 20th century to blues and the more recent rebirth classics of the second half of the last century. You don’t have to be a jazz fan to be convinced of the power of this timeless music. (c) Red Jackets
